Mechanical engineering

Short-cycle Higher Vocational College, Study programme: MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

Short-cycle Higher Vocational College is part of the Educational Centre Novo mesto and it is a widely recognized educational institution. It focuses on the excellence of studies and on the quality of professional and research work. The college has had an important role in the development of  local economy and the service sector for more than 20 years. Moreover, it works closely with employers at home and abroad, as our main goal is to provide high quality education and training by establishing solid partnerships with the companies that participate in carrying out work placements and help put theory into practice.
The study programme enables graduates to acquire vocational-specific competences in the field of mechanical engineering. The compulsory part of the course involves basic knowledge in the field of materials, technology and product design, in the use of information technology, economics and project management. Elective modules enable students to get in-depth knowledge in specific areas. Cost-effectiveness and environmentally-friendly use of energy are also very important, therefore it is necessary to plan energy systems and know how to operate them. This is part of the Energetics Module. The Automation Module is based on the planning and the implementation of automation in the production processes. Due to the increasing automation of processes, this kind of expertise is demanded by the employers. Effective maintenance of machines and appliances is important for production and cost estimation, which students can learn about in the Maintenance Module. The Toolmaking Module is based on the knowledge of designing tools, determining their standard parts and their economic and technological characteristics. The Production Module develops knowledge and competences in the field of planning and organizing work and production management.
